Yes, everything discussed during your visit is confidential including your health
history. If a third party is needed for a consult or authorization, you will be
asked to sign a release form.
Where will my massage take place?
Your massage will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music
will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for
your comfort.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed,
however, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your
own comfort. You will be properly draped during the session.
Will the massage therapist be present when I undress?
No, the therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table
and cover yourself with the sheet.
Will I be covered during the session?
Yes, you will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.
Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
Will oil or lotion be used?
Yes, light oils and/or lotions will be used to permit your muscles to be worked
on without causing excessive friction to your skin. The oils and lotions used in
your massage will hydrate your skin and be easily absorbed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the massage therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your
session. This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A
typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands,
head, neck and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals
(male or female) or breasts (female).
What about my hair and make-up?
Your head and face are usually part of a full body massage therefore most
services will disrupt your hair and make-up. You may wish to bring personal
items with you to refresh your hair and make-up after your session. Let your
therapist know if this is a concern and she will accommodate your wishes.
What if I wear contact lenses?
Contact lenses should be removed prior to your session. Saline solution and
extra lens cases are available for your convenience.
Are there different kinds of massage?
There are numerous types of massage. Various techniques utilize different
strokes including basic gliding strokes, rocking movement, stretching,
application of pressure to specific points and more. Ask your massage therapist
about the methods she uses.
How long will the session last?
Most clients prefer a 60 minute or 90 minute session for optimal relaxation and
results. A 30 minute appointment only allows time for a targeted session such
as your neck, shoulders and back.
What will the massage feel like?
It depends on the techniques used. Generally your session will start with long,
flowing strokes to help calm your nervous system and ease exterior muscle
tension. As your body relaxes and unwinds, pressure will gradually be
increased to relieve areas of muscular tension.
What should I do during my massage?
Make yourself comfortable. The massage therapist will either gently move you
or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Most people just close their
eyes and completely relax.
How will I feel after my massage?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches
and pains. After an initial period of feeling relaxed, some people experience
increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity. Since toxins
are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you
drink plenty of water afterwards.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?
Yes, which is why it is imperative that before you begin your session you inform
the massage therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If
you are under a doctor’s care, you may be asked to provide documentation
from your doctor stating you are approved to receive massage.
What should I do if I feel any discomfort?
Speak up if you are in any way uncomfortable. This applies across the board ~
is the music too loud? Are you too warm or too cold? Is the pressure too firm
or too light? Always speak up if you feel uncomfortable so your therapist can
make the appropriate adjustments.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice to change or cancel your appointment. Solace
